It was a clash of unbeaten basketball teams Friday afternoon in Troy

The Midlakes girls' basketball team's stellar season came to an end Friday with a 60-48 loss to Susquehanna Valley in a Class B state semifinal battle.

The teams were tied after the first quarter, after which Susquehanna Valley started pulling away — including a 16-0 run at one point — though the Screaming Eagles kept threatening all the way to the end.

The scrappy contest put an end to Section V champ Midlakes' season, which saw the Screaming Eagles undefeated with 23 wins until Friday's loss to the Section VI champion Sabers. Midlakes was ranked No. 3 by the New York Sportswriters Association, and Susquehanna Valley was naked No. 2.

Full coverage of the semifinal game will be posted soon today.
