The 32-year-old woman accused of randomly killing an Orleans County mother by shooting her in the head while she was eating lunch in her car has now been deemed competent to stand trial.

Holly Colino, 32, is accused of fatally shooting Megan Dix, of Lyndonville, last August while she ate lunch on her break from work in a parking lot in Brockport. Colino allegedly shot Dix, 33, in the head with a pistol.

On Tuesday, Judge Schiano said he has a “notification of fitness to proceed” for Colino.

In October, an initial psychiatric evaluation found Colino incompetent to stand trial, but on Tuesday, her lawyer said he has noticed “remarkable improvement."
