Federal highway officials say the State Department of Transportation will remove more than 500 "I Love NY" signs in April. The work was originally scheduled to begin in March, but was delayed due to winter weather.

The state agreed to take the signs down on the thruway and other New York highways, after the federal government threatened to withhold $14 million in funding.
