An Irondequoit High School teacher resigned after the West Irondequoit School District said that staff found evidence that she had inappropriate relationships with two students.
In a statement on its website, district leaders did not name the teacher.
The statement reads in part:
"The District hired this employee after a thorough vetting process that included personal and professional reference checks, state and local fingerprint clearances and multiple interviews. This employee received excellent references and passed the criminal background checks without any negative reports."
Any parents with questions are encouraged to call West Irondequoit Schools' Deputy Superintendent Dr. Tim Terranova in the Human Resources office at 585-336-2995.
Irondequoit Police told News 10NBC that officers investigated an inappropriate relationship between a 23-year-old Irondequoit High School teacher and a 17-year-old student. After consulting with prosecutors, officers found that no crime was committed, and the teacher will not be charged.
