Police say 29-year-old Michael Cosentino, of Geneva, is in critical condition after being shot several times in the head. Police discovered Cosentino after responding to a crash scene near Lewis St. in Geneva. The result of the investigation has led to the arrests of two Geneva men.

A Geneva man is in critical condition after he was shot in the head Sunday morning.

Just before 7 a.m., Geneva Police officers responded to the area of Lewis Street between Genesee Street and N. Main Street for a vehicle into a tree.

Police say the driver, 29-year-old Michael Cosentino, of Geneva, was shot several times in the head. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where he underwent life-threatening surgery. Cosentino is currently in critical condition.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of two Geneva men. Erin Rhynes, 26, is charged with felony assault in the first degree. Timetheus Merritt, 26, is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. Police say additional charges are pending.

Bail for Rhynes and Merritt is set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond each.
