Spectrum cable TV viewers who previously watched Newark Central School District board of education meetings, athletic events, concerts and other school events such as Newark High School Commencement on Public Education Access Channel 6 may or may not know there has been a change.
For those who didn’t know, viewers can now see these things on Channel 1302.
Scott Diamond, NSCD broadcast TV/social media coordinator, said Spectrum made the switch in late January. Diamond also serves as the head audiovisual technician for NCSD access of Channel 1302.
“With Spectrum’s digital upgrade, anyone who had a new digital cable box installed in their home should be able to access Channel 1302,” Diamond said.
Additional channel content includes televised NHS morning announcements at 8:14 a.m. produced by WNHS Club and various videos involving NHS student projects.
When video content isn’t on screen, Diamond said photos taken by Becky Hauf from activities at NHS are scrolled on the channel.
Palmyra-Macedon Central School District is the only other district in the five-county region — Wayne, Ontario, Seneca, Cayuga and Yates counties — that is utilizing the channel. Kevin Schlegel, digital media teacher/specialist at Pal-Mac High School, provides content similar to NCSD for Channel 1302.
