Police say an off-duty Rochester Police officer was struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Penfield. The vehicle took off and police are now searching for the driver.

Police say an off-duty Rochester Police officer was struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Penfield.

The vehicle took off and right now police are looking for the driver.

Police say the victim stopped a red light on 441 at 5 Mile Line Road around 9 p.m.

Another car hit the car twice – witnesses say it appears that it appeared the driver was out of it, possibly intoxicated.

The driver got out of the car, the suspect vehicle hit the driver and continued west on 441.

The vehicle is described as a sports car, possibly a Honda or a Subaru according to witnesses.

The officer has been transported to Strong Hospital.

The injuries are not considered life threatening.
