After tallying the figures, Campground Owners of New York announced that Lake Bluff Campground in Wolcott, owned by Gregg and Kelly Nicholls, raised $3,357 in donations for Camp Good Days and Special Times through a statewide fundraising event for charity in 2017.
According to Meghan Lawton, CONY vice president of marketing and public relations, the association raised $108,699.73 in 2017, bringing its six-year fundraising total for Camp Good Days to $466,776.52.
“We are grateful to CONY parks like Lake Bluff Campground, as well as their campers and supporters, for helping us raise one of our largest annual totals for Camp Good Days and Special Times,” Lawton said. “Camp Good Days provides a service to children and families dealing with an awful disease — a service that is unmet, and we are proud to help them provide these services.”
Throughout the 2017 camping season, Lake Bluff Campground raised funds through various activities in its park and the support of its campers.
“We sold paper balloons, kazoos, collected returnable bottles and cans and had our annual Camp Good Days raffle,” Gregg Nicholls said. “We had a lot of support from a lot of local businesses this year, and we thank them all for that.”
With fundraising by CONY campgrounds from across the state, a total of $108,699.73 in checks were presented by CONY leaders to Camp Good Days and Special Times representative James McCauley at a special ceremony during the annual exposition at Turning Stone Resort in Verona.
