Family Promise of Wayne County will host its “Bed City” fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. on May 12 at Park Presbyterian Church, 110 Maple Court, Newark.
Proceeds will benefit homeless families in Wayne County. The event will feature beds sponsored by county businesses, organizations, churches and individuals; donated by furniture companies; and decorated by area youth groups. The public will make a small donation to vote on their favorite beds.
Food will be provided by food truck vendors Riblicious BBQ, El Morros, Heintzelman’s and Park’s Presbyterian Women. Light Blue will play from 5 to 7 p.m. in Central Park on Church Street. Children’s activities will be available on the church grounds.
Family Promise of Wayne County is the new local affiliate of the national Family Promise. Its mission and vision are to help homeless families achieve sustainable independence in which every family has a home, a livelihood and the chance to build a better future.
The nonprofit organization is coordinating local efforts that unites communities to help homeless families regain their housing, independence and dignity. Churches are invited to host families for four weeks of the year. Other churches, organizations and individuals are invited to support the host church in providing meals and volunteers.
