Main Street Arts, 20 W. Main St., Clifton Springs, will open “Student Paintings 2018: Colorful Creations,” its fifth exhibition of student artwork, with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. on May 12.
The exhibit features nearly 400 students in grades 6-12 from Caledonia-Mumford High School, Fairport High School, Honeoye Middle-High School, Marion Junior-Senior High School, Midlakes High School, Midlakes Middle School, Newark High School, North Rose-Wolcott High School, Palmyra-Macedon Middle School, Penn Yan Academy, Rush-Henrietta High School, Sodus High School and Victor Junior High School.
Students received a blank, 5-by-7 stretched canvas, and were asked to paint an object or scene using an assigned color prompt. Imaginative interpretations of the theme, “Colorful Creations,” were encouraged.
Cash awards will go to first, second and third place; recognition will go to artists at each grade level.
Main Street Arts is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays-Saturdays. The exhibit will run from May 12 to June 2. Call (315) 462-0210, email mstreetarts@gmail.com or visit mainstreetartsgallery.com for information.
