Today is National Bike to School Day.

The first one was held back in 2012. The goal is to encourage kids to either bike or walk to school. More than 25-hundred schools are taking part across the country, including nine right here on our area.

According to the walk and bike to school website, Pittsford and Brighton schools are registered for the event, as well as Rochester City School #23 and #58.

Families are encouraged to participate in the national effort to go green and stay healthy by safely walking on sidewalks or using a bike path to get to school today. Parents of younger children should consider biking with their child.

For more information on the national program, visit the Walk/Bike to school website.
