Community members, friends and family recently gathered at Ravenwood Golf Club to attend APD Casino Night, organized in memory of Victor graduate Alex Davis.

This was the fourth event sponsored by American Legion James Cooke Post 931 at Ravenwood in memory of Davis, including three previous charity golf tournaments. The event sold out; 210 guests played various casino games such as poker, roulette and blackjack while enjoying live music and a silent auction with donated items from around the community.

The night raised over $37,000 to benefit Victor-Farmington Food Cupboard, Honor Flight Rochester and Santa’s Hideaway Hollow. Recently, a $16,000 check was presented to Victor-Farmington Food Cupboard by Bob Davis and the American Legion for its mobile pantry campaign. Additional proceeds will be distributed to Honor Flight Rochester and Santa’s Hideaway Hollow.

All of the charity events organized by the Davis family were born out of the tragedy of losing their son. They were looking for a way to carry on his legacy by doing positive things for the community. American Legion Post supports this cause because of the relationship they had with Davis. The veterans continue to support the family with every event, and it’s because of that partnership and the support of the community that $150,000 has been raised for various charitable organizations in the last four years.
