Marc Molinaro, considered the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for New York State Governor, has named former Rye Deputy Mayor and New York State Senate candidate Julie Killian as his choice for Lieutenant Governor.

In a press release on Sunday announcing the move, Molinaro cited Killian's experience as a mother, championing of drug education, and strong campaigning skills, noting that she significantly outperformed President Donald Trump in Westchester during the 2016 election

The choice came after Molinaro empaneled a Lieutenant Governor search committee that included Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo, who announced she was not going to be running for the position earlier on Sunday.

Molinaro and Killian are seeking to run on the Republican, Conservative, and Reform Party lines.
