Plans are in the works for upcoming activities on June 8-9 when Newark comes alive with various activities for all ages.
St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 401 S. Main St., Newark, will hold its Family Festival from 5 to 9 p.m. on June 8 and noon to 9:30 p.m. on June 9. Events include a bounce house, slide, obstacle course, games of skill and food such as burgers, hot dogs, French fries and sausage.
Visitors will enjoy a cake wheel, Spanish food booth on June 8 and homemade desserts such as strawberry shortcake and brownie sundaes.
Attendees can take part in the cash raffle to win a grand prize of 25 percent of ticket sales, second prize of 15 percent and third prize of 10 percent. Tickets are $10. The drawing is on June 9. Call (315) 331-6753 for information.
Jazz ensembles from Wayne County schools — including Newark High School, Newark Middle School, Clyde-Savannah High School, East Palmyra Christian School and Palmyra-Macedon High School — will perform on the Main Street Stage at noon on June 9.
St. Michael’s will offer a pickleball tournament on June 9 in the School Gym.
First United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main St., Newark, will hold its Spring Fling Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 9. Plans include a “Nearly New” clothing booth, holiday table, craft booth, bookshop, silent auction featuring original art by Dr. Chang and Grace Krueger, bake sale, various vendors and gift baskets. Sandwiches and a frozen fruit dessert are available for purchase.
Newark Police Department will hold a Safe Child ID table on June 9, where parents and guardians can take their children to have photos, biographical information and fingerprints issued.
Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization of volunteers who work in partnership with responsible low-income families in building homes, will offer information to interested individuals at the festival. The group finished houses in Newark, Sodus, North Rose, Clyde, Macedon, Williamson, Ontario, Wolcott, Rose, Lyons and Marion.
Park Presbyterian Church, 110 Maple Court, Newark, will hold a chicken barbecue at 11 a.m. on June 9. Presale tickets are available at the church.
