Organizers said the first Newark Central School District art show was a success, with more than 350 people attending the recent event at Newark High School.
Red Fox Art Fest, sponsored by the NCSD Art Department, featured select student art works from all grade levels. It will likely become an annual event.
Courtney Dentel, NHS art teacher and K-12 art supervisor, said the districtwide show is something art department has wanted to do for a long time. She heard several positive comments about the show from attendees.
“They said they loved seeing the progression from K-12,’’ she said. “They said the show was beautiful and they were surprised by the level of talent across the grade levels.”
Dentel said the art department decided to do the show because “it’s important to showcase the great things that are happening in art from kindergarten on up and celebrate students’ artistic achievement.”
Two attractions at the show — the button station and the photo booth area — were popular with attendees.
Light refreshments were available in the foyer at the show. Admission was free.
