It stands out more than the hamburger, the hot dog, pizza, chicken wings or burritos.

It looks like Rochester's beloved garbage plate is finally getting its due.

The website "Mashable" has named it "the great American dish."

Entertainment Reporter Kellen Beck's ode to the garbage plate was published Wednesday evening.

Beck says, "someday every American will know the inimitable joy of this hodge-podge dish that combines the finest fares that this country has to offer."

He explores the various incarnations of the dish and its history.

He says, for him, it stands out more than the hamburger, the hot dog, pizza, chicken wings or burritos.
