Newark board of education re-elects officers

Russ Harris was re-elected president of the Newark Central School District board of education for 2018-19, making this the third consecutive year he will serve as president.

Harris served as vice president during in 2015-16 when Andy Correia was president. He served on the board in 1993-2003, and was elected to a fifth, three-year term in May 2017.

Eric DeTaeye was re-elected VP for 2018-19, his third consecutive year in this position. DeTaeye was elected to his second, three-year term on the board in May.

The votes for Harris and DeTaeye were each 5-0, with newcomers Pat Verdine and Brad Steve, who were elected to their first, three-year terms on the board in May, abstaining.
