Suzanne Earl, of Newark Rotary Club, recently received a Rotarians in Service Everywhere Award in recognition of her service to the community.
Earl joined Newark Rotary in 1992. She was Newark’s first woman mayor, and served on boards for Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Newark-Arcadia Historical Society, Newark Public Library and Newark Central School District.
John Zornow and Trudy Hicks planned the surprise award, with Hicks putting together a photo board of Earl’s activities.
“Susie Earl represented the entire community as a school board member, not just one group of citizens,” Zornow said. “This award is just a piece of paper inside a dollar store frame, a pittance for the many years of service that Susie has given to the community.”
