The Hall of Fame quarterback was recognized for his fight Wednesday night at the 2018 ESPY Awards.
Those who have followed his battle with cancer became familiar with the phrase, 'Kelly Tough.'
Once thought to be cancer free, Jim Kelly is continuing his on-going battle with the disease and the Hall of Fame quarterback was recognized for his fight Wednesday night at the 2018 ESPY Awards.
Kelly has not only been outspoken for cancer research, he's been incredibly open about his own battle with the disease and he hasn't let it slow him down.
On Wednesday, he shared his message with the sports world when he was honored him with the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance.
"Make a difference today for someone who is fighting for their tomorrow. When I look across this arena and when I talk to people, you don't need to be a Russell Wilson, an Aaron Rodgers to make a difference," stated Kelly. "Every single person in this room can be a difference maker. You can be just a normal person who gets up every morning and goes to work, but you can be a difference maker putting smiles on those faces. If you have someone out there suffering, it doesn't have to be cancer, what you say to them and the smile you have on your face, that can be the difference in them making it to the next day."
