Wayne County Sheriff's Marine Patrol investigated a boating accident that occurred on Sodus Bay north of Third Creek
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol investigated a boating accident that occurred on Sodus Bay north of Third Creek. According to deputies, both boats were operated by a person under age 18 and one of them was injured.
The accident occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Deputies reported the engine of the first boat stalled causing the operator, a minor from Sodus Point, to lose the ability to steer the craft resulting in a collision with another boat. The operator of the second watercraft, also a minor from Sodus Point, was injured in the collision. That person suffered injuries to his left lower leg. He was taken from the scene by the North Rose Water Rescue Team and turned over to the Silver Water Ambulance for transport to Newark Wayne Hospital for treatment.
Both boats also carried a passenger, and those passengers were also under age 18 and from Sodus Point. The operator of the first boat and the two passengers were uninjured.
Deputies were assisted by Water Rescue teams from Sodus Point, North Rose and Alton Fire Departments, Silver Waters Ambulance and the US. Coast Guard.
