A three-vehicle crash has shut down the northbound lanes of I-390 near the airport.

A truck traveling southbound swerved to avoid a broken down vehicle in the southbound center lane of I-390 just south of Brooks Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Deputies say a dump truck, traveling behind the truck, then struck the back of the broken down vehicle. The dump truck veered left into the median and into the northbound lanes, striking a third vehicle.

The dump truck leaked approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel into all three northbound lanes -- it is deemed a Level 0 hazmat.

One occupant of the broken down vehicle and the third vehicle were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The northbound lanes of I-390 remain closed with traffic being diverted to Brooks Avenue. The southbound lanes reopened to traffic around 10:35 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
