Governor Andrew Cuomo has set a date for a special election to fill New York's 25th Congressional District seat.

The seat, formerly held by late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, has been vacant since she passed away in March.

The governor issued a proclamation Monday, stating the special election will take place the same day as the general election, Nov. 6.

In June, Joe Morelle won the Democratic primary race, setting up a race against Republican Dr. Jim Maxwell.
