The sheriff says they allegedly did it for the insurance money.

A daughter who pleaded guilty in connection to her mother's death was sentenced to 20 years to life behind bars on Thursday.

Jasmine Harlee was sentenced after pleading guilty to second-degree murder of her mother, Julie Martin.

Deputies found Martin, 52, dead inside her home at the Orchard Grove Village mobile home park in the Town of Ontario back in February 2017.

Prosecutors say Knowledge Couser was dating Harlee at the time of Martin's murder. Couser, Harlee, and two other men were all charged in connection with the crime. According to court documents, she was smothered with a pillow.

The sheriff says they allegedly did it for the insurance money.

Couser will be handed 20 years to life at sentencing in October.
