The Summit Federal Credit Union named Moll Farms in Williamson as its Vendor of the Month for September 2018 at the city of Rochester Public Market.
Owners Abram and Angela Moll previously worked for SpaceX in Los Angeles, Abram was an engineer and Angela as a human resources recruiter. They wished to do something more down to earth, so they moved to Williamson to purchase what is now Moll Farms in 2015.
Abram’s ancestors farmed in the Netherlands for hundreds of years before a more recent generation established a farm in Williamson in 1893. That farm sold in 2014.
Of the property’s 60 acres, the Molls farm 42 acres of produce such as radishes, squash, broccoli, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, cauliflower, zucchini, spinach, beans, lettuce, beets and apples, which are sold locally to make hard cider.
Abram said he enjoys interacting with customers at the market, who give him feedback and insight into where demand is headed. Moll Farms offers bounty baskets, or door-to-door produce straight from the farm to area residents. Customers can look at a weekly list of the farm’s current produce and choose six items to be delivered.
The Vendor of the Month award honors market vendors who offer locally grown products and demonstrate a commitment to the Rochester community.
