Doctors are urging you to talk to friends who might need help. Their call for action comes during National Suicide Prevention Week across the country.

Numbers from the CDC list suicide as the tenth leading cause of death in the U.S.

An estimated 45,000 people take their own lives every year.

"It's an important topic for everyone to not be afraid to talk about," Rochester Regional Health's Director of Child and Youth Services Eve Gotham says. "Suicide affects people of all works of life, all cultures, all socioeconomic statuses, ages, and to bring education and awareness helps to destigmatize it."

While suicide remains one of the top causes of deaths in America of all ages, it is the second when it comes to people between 10 to 34 years old.
