Governor Andrew Cuomo officially kicked off the Democratic Party's statewide general election campaign on Tuesday, encouraging Democrats to unite so the party can regain control of the New York State Senate.

The launch came five days after his primary win against Cynthia Nixon. Governor Andrew Cuomo focused his comments on President Donald Trump:

"The truth is," he said, "this president and his extreme conservative colleagues have declared war on the state of New York. They are attacking our rights, our values, and our economy."

Cuomo's opponent, Republican gubernatorial nominee Marc Molinaro, made campaign stops in Albany and Utica on Tuesday.
