Nazareth College is investigating after a swastika symbol was found on campus.

The symbol was carved into a student’s whiteboard in the hallway outside of a residence hall room, according to a statement from Nazareth College.

Nazareth College Campus Safety is conducting "an active investigation on the bias related incident of a swastika symbol" discovered inside the dorm.

President Daan Braveman immediately issued the statement below to the entire college campus.

“I want to be very clear. This incident is very serious and does not reflect the core values or mission of this institution. We embrace differences and seek to build a sense of belonging here on this campus and beyond. Currently, we are doing everything we can to find the part or parties responsible, and we will hold them accountable."

Campus Safety is investigating and will determine if it needs to bring in outside help from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
