The Rochester community is offering a grateful salute to a new generation of military heroes. Sunday the latest group of veterans returned to town after the 62 Honor Flight to Washington put on by Honor Flight Rochester.

In the past, Honor Flights have taken veterans of World War II, the Korean War and the Cold War but this trip exclusively focused on Vietnam veterans.

"It's fantastic for us to bring home 60 Vietnam veterans to the welcome home that they should have had 50 years ago," said Co-Founder of Honor Flight Rochester, Peter Glennon. "I believe this country has always appreciated their service and the fact that they wore our uniform now they're back and it's time to set it right."

Organizers say they have many more Vietnam veterans lined up and ready to go on future Honor Flights. The flights take veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to their service.
