Wayne Central School District was included among the top 100 schools in upstate New York in a 2018 academic ranking by Buffalo Business First. Wayne ranked 60th out of 431 school districts.
Wayne was recognized as one of 138 school districts that moved up in the ranking process by more than 50 places since 2011, the first year that Business First started to rank schools.
Additionally, Wayne was recognized as one of the top 20 school districts in Greater Rochester. Wayne ranked 16th out of 67 districts.
The district also ranked in the top 15 percent of upstate New York’s 431 districts for its 2017-18 SAT performance.
Buffalo Business First evaluated test scores and graduation rates for 431 school districts in upstate New York for this ranking. Its school district rankings are determined by a 208-part formula that weights assessment scores and graduation rates from 2014 to 2017, using the latest information available from the New York State Education Department.
District rankings reflect the collective performance of each district’s public schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Upstate New York, as defined by Business First, encompasses the state’s 48 counties north of the 42nd parallel. It includes western New York and the Albany, Binghamton-Elmira, Plattsburgh, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica-Rome and Watertown markets.
