LYONS — A Lyons man is sitting in a Wayne County jail cell after allegedly striking a New York State Trooper with a baseball bat.

Jason Vannorstrand, 24, was charged with second degree assault, fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.

On October 25, police responded to a domestic incident on Jackson Street in the Town of Lyons and discovered Vannorstrand allegedly in Lyons Central Park armed with a metal baseball bat.

Vannorstrand, who is sporting bruises and a back eye in his mugshot, failed to comply with commands to drop that bat and then struck a trooper with bat and resisted arrest.

Town of Lyons Judge Philip Desain set bail at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
