A tow truck driver is fighting for his life this morning after deputies say he was hit while helping a disabled vehicle. It happened on I-390 South near exit 11 in the town of Rush around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

A tow truck driver is fighting for his life this morning after deputies say he was hit while helping a disabled vehicle.

It happened on I-390 South near exit 11 in the town of Rush around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

Deputies say the tow truck driver was outside of the vehicle when a pickup truck hit him.

The 34-year old male victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He is now in guarded condition.

The driver of the pickup truck is a 36-year-old female.

I-390 South was shut down in the area for several hours. It has since re-opened.

Investigators say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
