One night over one ton of batteries were taken from an automotive business on Route 31 in the town of Palmyra and sold to a scrap yard, according to deputies.

A Lyons man was charged Saturday with grand larceny after stealing over a ton of automotive-type batteries from a business in Palmyra, according to deputies.

Wayne County deputies arrested Frederick R.T. Paige, 35, of Lyons following an investigation into a larceny of the batteries. According to the report, one night over one ton of batteries were taken by Paige from an automotive business on Route 31 in the town of Palmyra and sold to a scrap yard.

Paige was accompanied by a 13 year-old child at the time of the crime, deputies said.

Paige was issued an appearance ticket with fourth-degree grand larceny and endangering the welfare of a child. He is to appear in the town of Palmyra Court to answer to the charges.
