Local law enforcement agencies will participate in a statewide Stop-DWI Holiday Season Crackdown enforcement effort from Dec. 13 to Jan. 1, 2019.
Officers in Wayne County and across the state will take to the roads in an effort to stop impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives. Municipal law enforcement agencies, the New York State Police and Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies will be out in full force.
Research shows that high-visibility enforcement can reduce drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent.
The Stop-DWI Holiday Season Crackdown is one of many county and state enforcement initiatives promoted by the Wayne County Stop-DWI program, New York State Stop-DWI Association, with additional funding from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and implemented by the Stop-DWI Foundation.
The STOP-DWI Foundation created a mobile app, Have a Plan, that is available as a free download for smartphones to help find safe rides home. Visit stopdwi.org/mobileapp for information.
