Police say Ontario and Monroe County sheriff deputies were in pursuit of two shoplifting suspects when the chase ended in a crash near St. John Fisher College. One of the suspects is dead, the other has been air-lifted to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Police say 31-year-old Joseph Cavanaugh was armed with a sword that was several feet long and after police responded to a domestic disturbance, officers say, Cavanaugh verbally threatened the officers while walking toward them unsheathing the sword.
