NEWARK — Died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010 at the Clifton Springs Hospital at the age of 83.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Father Felix Dalimpuo at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19 at St. Michael’s Church on South Main Street in Newark. Burial in Newark Cemetery.
Memorials in his name may be made to St. Michael’s Church, 401 S. Main St., Newark, N.Y. 14513.
Mr. DeMarco was born in the home where he lived all his life on June 17, 1927, the son of the late Larry and Tina Sapp DeMarco. He graduated from Newark High School in 1945 then served in the U.S. Army for the remainder of World War II. A carpenter, he operated A.D. Builder and Cabinet Shop on Lake Street until his retirement in 1994. He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and a life member of the Newark Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane; two children, Anthony Jr. (Kathleen) of Pittsburgh and Dina DeMarco of Staten Island; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Patrick and Christopher. He was predeceased by his sister, Frances DeMarco in 1999.

WASHINGTON, Pa./FORMERLY OF PALMYRA — Died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 at his home with his family by his side at the age of 91.

Art was born the son of the late William and Cora (Kynderdyk) Deys on Sept. 28, 1918 in Rochester. He was an auto mechanic at Arthur Arthurton Garage in Palmyra for many years. Art was a person who cared about the life of other people. He served as Sunday School Teacher for many years. However, Art and his wife will probably be remembered most for starting the free luncheon program on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in 1993. They continued to run and maintain the program for 15 years and it continues to serve people today and has served over 53,000 lunches to date. Art would run every week for food which was donated by Foodlink and Wegmans. What was not received Art and Elsie would then go shopping to be purchase needed items.
Art enjoyed singing and sang in the church choir for many years. He had a great sense of humor and one line he would say often “he never had a middle name because his family was to poor”.
Art will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Elsie (Flint) Deys; and children.

LYONS — Of Sunset Drive, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010 at the age of 86.

A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 23 at St. Michael’s Church in Newark. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24 at Semian Funeral Home at 704 Union St. in Taylor, Pa. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25 in St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Old Forge, Pa.

Peg was born on April 7, 1924 in Scranton, Pa., daughter of Joseph and Margaret Warner Smith. She had worked at Hickox Co. in Lyons in earlier years. She worked on the Board of Elections, volunteered for the Girl Scouts and was involved with Home Demo and Lyons Garden Club. She had worked at the school cafeteria of the Lyons Elementary School. She attended St. Michael’s Church in Newark.
Peg is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Philip C.) Jolly of Virginia Beach, Va.; son, William Michael (Pam) of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren, Hilary and Michael Ermolovich and Sean Matthew Jolly; special friends, Jane and Ron DeCracker and family and Adele Mylnar; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, William, on Sept. 8, 2002.
MARTIN, CATHERINE ‘ANN’
NEWARK — Died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital at the age of 83.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Newark. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.

Ann was born in Marion on Nov. 2, 1926, the daughter of Lester and Katherine Dolan Nevil. She was a cafeteria manager for eight years for Clifton Springs Schools and was a home health aide for many years. Ann was an active member of St. Michael’s Church and its Martha Ministry and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Ronald) VanHalle of East Palmyra; two sons, Donald (Pam) of Newark and Richard (Pam) of Clifton Springs; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward “Bud” (Eleanor) Nevil; sister-in-law, Bernadine Nevil; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, August “Gus”, in 1993; brother, Robert Nevil.

ONTARIO — Went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at the age of 54.

Mary was born on Oct. 24, 1947 in Lyons, daughter of Vincent P. and Marian Wright Synesael. She graduated from Lyons High School. She was employed as a therapy aide at the former Newark Development Center.
She is survived by several cousins.

NEWARK — Died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at the age of 72.

Mary was born Nov. 14, 1937, the daughter of Raymond and Irene Palone Nephew. She retired from Wayne County as a Family Court Clerk. She loved casinos, her books, reading, NASCAR and shopping.
She is survived by daughters, Vera (Alby) Hack of Newark and Laurie Bueso of Palmyra; six grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Amy, Chad, Cory, and Kait; six great-grandchildren.
WAGEMAKER, DOLORES M.
NEWARK — Died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital at the age of 82.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 27 at St. Michael’s Church on South Main Street in Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.
Mrs. Wagemaker was born April 30, 1928 in Newark, the daughter of Frank and Angelica DeJohn Mason. She was a life-long resident of Newark and a graduate of Newark High School. For many years, Del owned and operated the Cross and Shield on North Main Street. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church. A Gold Star Mother, Del was honored to be a participant in Newark’s Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day ceremonies.
She is survived by her son, James Marsh of Carrboro, N.C.; a granddaughter, Jenny Marsh; a great grandson, Avery Marsh; her siblings, Francis and Eugene (Pat) Mason, Marion Bohusz, all of Newark, and Aurora Sinisi of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
Del was predeceased by her husbands, John Marsh and Leon Wagemaker; a son, John R. Marsh Jr., who was killed in Vietnam in 1968; a grandson, Jacob Marsh; two sisters, Rosalie Shane and Joan Perring.
