Predeceased by her mother, Doris; and brother, Donald Kowalski. Survived by her husband, Harry; brother, Richard Kowalski; daughter, Dalina Thomas and Sabrina (Jeffrey) Hart; son, Cory Anderson; cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Makayla Hart; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

NEWARK — Geraldine Blankenberg, 90, entered eternity on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at her son’s home with her loving family by her side.

Mrs. Blankenberg was born the daughter of Cornelius and Jannette (Moose) Orbaker on Saturday, Nov. 11, 1922 in Newark. She attended Newark, “Washington High School.” Mrs. Blankenberg worked for C.H. Stuart Co. in the packing department, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Newark VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sitting on a beach for relaxation and held a special spot in her heart for Sodus Point. You could find Mrs. Blankenberg visiting with people and with many of her friends.
Mrs. Blankenberg will be remembered by her sons, John and James (Toni) Blankenberg; daughters, Nancy Blankenberg, Judith Blankenberg and Donna (Herman) Lunser; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lester Orbaker; many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Blankenberg was predeceased by her husband, John Blankenberg in 1990; grandsons, Richard Mussaw in 2008 and Michael Bassett in 1985; 11 brothers and sisters; daughter-in-law, Barb Blankenberg in 2009.

MACEDON/WALWORTH — Died peacefully with his family by his side, on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at the age of 81.
Survived by his wife of 49 years, Joanna Jennings Blyth; four children, Geoff (Tammy) Blyth, Jennifer (Tom) Blyth-Schmandt, Jane (Doug Mesara) Blyth, and Jim (Julie) Blyth; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Blyth, John Blyth Warren, Christopher Blyth, James Blyth Warren, Katherine Blyth Warren, Anna Schmandt, Henry Blyth and Meghan Schmandt; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

DeCook, Jonathan Russell
NEWARK/CANANDAIGUA — With his ability to amuse intact, delighting his family and friends with his special brand of humor; and with the fighting spirit of a warrior, Jonathan Russell DeCook, of Canandaigua, was called back home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012.
His passing, at Clifton Springs Hospital, was the result of complications from a lifelong illness. He was 33 years old.
Family and friends may call on Friday, November 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Court, Newark. A celebration of life to remember Jonathan will convene on Saturday, November 24, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 301 E. Miller St., Newark, with Pastor Mary Rublee presiding over the services. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Clifton Springs.

While serving as a counselor at Camp Onseyawa, Jonathan experienced the unique rewards of working with developmentally disabled children.
Even as a child, Jonathan was a writer, adeptly articulating his thoughts and feelings in the form of stories, poems and other written works. The fervor to write, along with his innate talent, enabled Jon to leave a legacy of heartfelt and insightful works.
He attended Newark schools, graduating from Newark High School. Jonathan then attended Finger Lakes Community College, majoring in television communications.
He was most recently employed by Messenger Post Newspapers in Canandaigua.
In spite of ongoing medical issues, he pushed himself to work, to accomplish, to create and to follow his passions.
In addition to his passion for writing, Jonathan was a self-taught drummer and guitar player, but his interest in music extended beyond playing instruments.
As an entertainment promoter, especially for many popular area bands, Jonathan was in his element. His promotional efforts received rave reviews from local bands for whom he tirelessly and meticulously promoted.
Jonathan often combined his love of music with his ability as a photographer and videographer, shooting his favorite local bands.
He also utilized his skill as a photographer to assist others in creating photographic memories of important times in their lives.
No matter what project Jon was working on, he did it with passion and a desire to please the recipient.
If Jon was not busy putting his talents to good use, he might be found enjoying nature while hiking with friends.
He was also known for inviting a band of buddies to his home to prepare a meal for them.
Jonathan was a truly kind and caring friend to many. One of his greatest pleasures, however, was spending time with family, especially his brother.
His passing is an enormous loss to all who loved him, but he will always be remembered for his determination to experience the joys in life despite health challenges; his absolute love, acceptance and compassion for the lost or needy; and his courage and perseverance as he faced his final days of life.
Jonathan will be greatly missed by his loving parents, Linda (David) Frank and Bruce DeCook; devoted brother, Todd (Lisa) Jennings; faithful sisters, Kimberly (Daniel) Bellavia and Lisa (Steven) Buschner; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and godparents; and, most especially, his dedicated and loyal friends who were by his side to the end.
Along with the communion of saints, Jonathan will be welcomed home by his grandparents, John and Lorena DeCook and Russell and Anna Groat, who preceded him in death.

LYONS — Louise M. Petrus, 97, formerly of Elmer St., died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 in Canandaigua.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Rt. 14, N Lyons.
Memorials may be made to Lyons Public Library, 122 Broad St., Lyons.
Louise was born in Lyons on Oct. 26, 1915, daughter of Sundo and Josephine Marr Petrus. She had worked for 30 years for Hicox Co. in Lyons and the Wayne County Nursing Home. She attended St. Michael's Church.
Survived by nieces and nephews, Susan and Steven Cunningham of Canandaigua, Louis Cinelli and Gary Vardabash of Rochester, Louis and Krista Vardabash of Fairport, Don and Joan Smith of Newark, Jerry and Kathy Gillotti of Chicago, Gabe and Pam Gillotti of California; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

MACEDON — Died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, surrounded by his family, at the age of 75.
Predeceased by his parents, Alfred Sr., and Doris M. Triest; brother, Arthur Triest.
Survived by his wife of 43 years, Babette "Betty" Triest; three sons, Rick (Cheryl), Terry (Jean) and Paul (Karen) Triest; three grandchildren, Christopher, Cory and Connor; special in-laws, Avis and Earl Martin, Vi and Mo Cape, Bill and Helen Hook ;and other special relatives, Deb, Brian, Melissa (Tony), Matthew and J.J.; and many close friends.
Al retired in 1995 after 38 years of service at Xerox. His term as president of the Worker's United was cut short by his battle with Merkel Cell Carcinoma; his fifth occurrence with cancer. He was a fighter to the end. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

NEWARK — Lena May VanKoevering, 103, entered eternity on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012 at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

Mrs. VanKoevering was born the daughter of the late James and Mary (Oldacre) Fagner on August 16, 1909 in Newark. She grew up in a 10-room house on Blue Cut Road. Mrs. VanKoevering and her late husband, Henry, owned and operated the Henry’s Hardware Store on West Union Street. Cooking and baking was an enjoyable time for her. She made pies, cakes, birthday and wedding cakes. Everyone loved her Dutch bread that her grandmother taught her how to make. She played piano and loved the so-called “old time music”. Mrs. VanKoevering was most of all very happy working in her flower gardens in the summer time.
Mrs. VanKoevering will be remembered by her son, Henry Jr. (Pat) VanKoevering of Newark; daughters, Mary (Morris) DePaepe of Macedon, Eleanor Read of Florida and Betty Lou Miller of Victor; 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 60 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

NEWARK — Esther M. VanSchaffel, 87, of N. Main Street, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

Esther was born in the town of Farmington April 1, 1925, daughter of David and Mary Showers Mollenkopf. She had worked for N.Y. Telephone Co. as a telephone operator for many years in Newark and Geneva. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survived by her sister, Mabel Pembroke; brother, Elmer (Shelia) Mollenkopf; sister-in-laws, Gilberta Trani and Anna Mollenkopf; brother-in-law, Carl (Marion) VanSchaffel, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband, James, in 2006; brothers, George, Charles and Clarence; sisters, Alice Linstrom, Beulah VanLare, Evelyn Lang, Dorothy Mollenkopf.
