Clyde — Patchen, L. Virgal, 81, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Friends may call from 5to 8 p.m. March 19 at the Pusateri-Canolesio Funeral Home, 68 Sodus St., Clyde. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. March 20 at the funeral home with Rev. Dana Rattray. Burial in Maplegrove Cemetery in Clyde. Memorials to Clyde Ambulance Service on Ford Street in Clyde, or the American Cancer Society.

Virgal was born in Natural Bridge, N.Y., on Aug. 20, 1931, son of Harold and Lera Hicks Patchen. He operated his own painting and roofing contracting business for more than 40 years. He was also a bus drive, ran a gas station and worked at the Bordens and St. Regis Paper Mill.

Survived by his wife, of 36 years, Darlene Van Allen Fratus Patchen; his loving children, Virgial (Dawn) Jr., Doug (Heather) Gary (Kathy) Martin(Kersten) Mia(Suzanne), Renee (Bruce) Marsha (Dale) Patchen, Darrin, Arthur (Kim), Tim (Mary) Fratus; 5 sisters, Margaret McEkron, Alet Meeks, Patricia Kirkland, Shirley Curtis and Charlotte Bishop; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Bernice, Harold Jr., James and Ruth.
