Allen, Jean
PALMYRA — Jean Arthur Thorne Allen of Webster, formerly of Palmyra, passed away at home on Friday, Nov. 23.
She was born in Canandaigua in 1932, daughter of Arthur and Erline Thorne. She attended Palmyra school and helped with her father’s dairy business. On Sept. 22, 1979, she married Lewis Allen of East Rochester. She enjoyed cooking and created a website called “Lady Cook” which included recipes, cooking tips, humorous items and discussion board. She loved crosswords and reading. She greatly enjoyed her young grandchildren and they hold many memories of the fun, creative games she played with them. She was a member of Civil Air Patrol and attained the rank of Captain.
She is survived by her husband, Lew; her daughter, Connie (Rick) Nesbitt; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Rick) Walter of Maine, Robert (Angela) Nesbitt of Michigan, and Sarah (Paul) Chapman of Rhode Island. She was preceded in death by grandson, Raymond Arthur Louis, in 1978. She had 13 great-grandchildren; Ricky, Ryan, Rachel, Jack, Jonathan and Joshua Walter, Caleb, Mark, John and Rebecca Nesbitt, and Paul, Stacey and Katie Chapman. She is also survived by two sisters, Lovina (Lowell) Fields, and Caroline (Robert) Eagley; nephews and nieces include Jay Fagner, Ken (Nancy) Fagner, Kathy Fagner, Craig Fields and Arthur (Amy) Fields, Troy Eagley and Melissa (Fred) Laudise.
Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Anthony Funeral Home in Webster and interment on Thursday, Nov. 29 at Palmyra Cemetary in Palmyra.

Barclay, Bernice ‘Bernie’
LYONS - Bernice "Bernie" Barclay, 98, daughter of the late George and Mable Hall, was born on April 30, 1914 in the Town of Galen, N.Y. She departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 following several months of declining health, at the home of her daughter, Linda Kelley in Stanley, N.Y.
The family received friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 Williams St., Lyons, on Saturday, Dec. 8. A private service was held immediately following with burial in the Lyons Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to a charity of one's choice , First Lutheran Church of Lyons or Ontario-Yates County Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva, NY 14456.
In 1939 she married Frederick "Fritz" Barclay, who preceded her in death in 2000, following 60 years of marriage. They made their home in Lyons, where they raised their family. Bernice worked for Doctor David Ennis in 1959 until his timely death. In 1970, she moved with her husband to Tonawanda, N.Y. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church of Lyons for 30 years and Good Shepherd Church of Tonawanda for 28 years.
Bernie is survived by her children, Linda Kelley and friend James O'Brien, of Stanley, Judith Bradley and husband, Edward, of Durham, N.C.; son, Ian Barclay and wife, Kathy, of Marion, N.Y. She has six grandchildren, Michael Kelley, Roxanne Kelley Kelly, Mark Bradley, Kristin Barclay Cataldi, Brandon Barclay and Kara Barclay-El Gohary; 12 great-grandchildren; friend and caregiver, Sharon Weaver, of Clyde; several nieces and nephews; sisters, Dorothy Santelli Trombino, of Clifton Springs, and Norma Rattey, of Florida; brothers, Willis Hall, George Hall Jr. and Ralph Hall preceded her in death.
Arrangements are with the Boeheim-Pusateri in Lyons.

Breen, Mary P.
PALMYRA — Died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, with her loving family by her side at the age of 87.
Predeceased by her beloved husband of over 50 years, David J. Breen Sr.; her parents, Harold and Mildred Phipps; and brother, Donald. Survived by her children, Patrick (Linda) Breen, Terri (Charles) Ziegler, Tim (Lois) Breen, Dave (Karen) Breen Jr., Marty Breen, Kelly Breen and Tom Breen; grandchildren, Jenny (Travis) Whitton, Amy Trask, Christopher (Nichole) Breen, Sarah (Charles) Mitchell, Erin Breen, Trisha (Chad) Redmond, Patrick Breen, Jr., Sean Breen; 12 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers in G1, at the Fairport Baptist Homes for their wonderful support and care of Sweet Mary Breen.
Friends called on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Payne & Murphy Funeral Home, 1040 Route 31, Macedon. A Mass of Christian burial was offered on Friday, Nov. 30 at 9 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church (St. Katharine Drexel Parish), 136 Church St., Palmyra. Interment, St. Anne's Cemetery.

Case, Eleanor
PALMYRA/NEWARK — Eleanor Case, 90, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at the DeMay Living Center.
Friends called 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St., Newark. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Benedict officiating. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.
Memorials, in her name, may be made to the DeMay Living Center Activities Fund, 1200 Driving Park Avenue, Newark, NY 14513 or to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, NY 14889.
Mrs. Case was born July 28, 1922 in Newark the daughter George and Lillian McDonald Provo. She had worked in the packing department of C.H. Stuart Nursery for over 25 years.
She is survived three sons, Robert (Sharon) of Keuka Park, James of Newark, George (Ann) of Palmyra; three daughters, Patricia (Kenneth) VanNorman of Sodus, Sandra VanHaneghan of Palmyra, Linda (Timothy) Bevis, of Clifton Park; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Robert, in 2006; a son, William; two grandchildren; four siblings, Edith Sinack, Winifred Reeves, Robert and Carl Provo.
Scribner, Donald E.
PALMYRA — Donald E. Scribner passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in his 90th year.
He was predeceased by his son, Harold Scribner; and is survived by children, Donna Hand, Cathie Krenz, James Scribner, Patricia Scribner and Donald Jr.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Don worked for Hammer Mill Paper Co. during World War II in Erie, Pa. He later went on to work for Penn Central RR. After the RR Shops closed in East Rochester, he moved to Lock Haven, Pa. He was born in Alabama, NY on July 27, 1922 to John & Orena Scribner.
A special thank you to Michelle and the entire staff at the Wayne County Nursing Home for making his final days comfortable.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
