Bailey, Leona
CLYDE — Died Sunday, Nov. 6 at the Wayne County Nursing Home following a
lengthy illness at the age of 89.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Baris Funeral Home at 87 W. Genesee St. in Clyde. Both the Order of the Eastern Star and the Eureka Grange will honor Leona with services at the funeral home on Wednesday. The Order of the Eastern Star service will be at 3:30 p.m. and the Grange service will be at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Deborah Leisenring will officiate. Burial in Rose cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Clyde Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 145, Clyde, NY 14433 or to the Wayne County Nursing Home, 1529 Nye Rd. Lyons, NY 14489 would be appreciated.

Mrs. Bailey was born on June 30, 1922 the daughter of the late Arthur and Sarah Morey Bornheimer. She was a graduate of the class of 1941 at North Rose High School. On June 7, 1943 she married Merle Bailey who then pre-deceased her on July 3, 1995 after 52 years of marriage. For over 30 years, Leona worked as a shipping clerk for the Parker Hannifin Corp of Lyons, and she also worked many years as an elections inspector. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Clyde United Methodist Church. Leona was an avid collector of tea cups, thimbles and jig-saw puzzles. She was the past Noble Grand of the Clyde Rebekkahs and a member of LAPM of Auburn. She was also a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Clyde a member of  the Lyons Eureka Grange and the Rose Oasis.
Leona is survived by her daughters Patricia (Charles) Stone of Clyde and Jeanne (Bill Ball) Bailey of Savannah; her sons James (Judy) Bailey of Clyde and Tom (Cathy) Bailey of Clyde; her grandchildren Darryl Bailey, Scott Stone, Lyn Strong, Amy Lawson and Ryan Bailey, nine great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was pre deceased by her brothers William, John, Harlan and Herman Bornheimer and her sister Hilda Bornheimer.

Eaggleston, Ellis “Joe”
ONTARIO — Died on Nov. 4, 2011 at age 65.

Survived by his sons, Joe, Chris and Ron; grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Huff and Shelby Sears.

Friends called Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 2-4 and  7-9 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home at 1961 Ridge Road in Ontario. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Ontario, followed by his Committal Service at Calvary Cemetery.

Fitzgerald, William J.
ONTARIO — Died on Oct. 28, 2011 at age 90.

Predeceased by his three brothers and four sisters. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Cathryn Fitzgerald; children, Florence “Bunnie” (Angelo) Guiliari, Darrell Fitzgerald, Gloria Huber, John (Carol) Fitzgerald, Donna (James) Peterson, Mary (Terry) Catherman, Dorothy (Jeffrey) Wayland; grandchildren, Kelley, William “Will”, Dale, Michael, Emily, Laura Fitzgerald, Stacey Huber, Caitlyn Peterson, Dustin “DJ”, Alaina Wayland; brother Tom (Florence) Fitzgerald; sisters-in-law, Doreen and Helene Fitzgerald; brother-in-law George (Trudi) Gibbs; many nieces and nephews.

Friends called from 4-7 Monday, Oct. 31 at Murphy Funeral Home at 1961 Ridge Road in Ontario. A Mass of Christian Burial was held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1 at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Ontario, followed by his Committal Service at Calvary Cemetery.

Lippa, Brian
CLIFTON SPRINGS/FORMERLY OF NEWARK — Entered eternity on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at his residence at the age of 56.

Norrison, Carolyn “Carrie” E.
PALMYRA — Carolyn “Carrie” Elizabeth Norrison, 81, went home to meet with her husband on Saturday Nov. 5, 2011 at Clifton Springs Hospital.

Family and friends called Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc. at 124 W. Miller St. in Newark. A Funeral Service will be Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church at 301 S. Main St. in Newark. Burial in Sodus Rural Cemetery.

Carrie was born the daughter of the late Abraham and Ethyl (Chalker) DeRue on Sept. 4, 1930 in Sodus. For many years she worked at her husband’s business, Newark Tractor, Inc. in Palmyra, as a bookkeeper. For the last 12 years she worked for the International Municipal Signal Assoc. in Newark also as a bookkeeper. Carrie worked right up until two weeks ago. She enjoyed knitting, puzzles and square dancing.

Carrie was always happy to give back to her community by volunteering over 13,000 hours at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and more hours at the Newark Schools. She was a member of the Newark Grange and held a 55 year seal.

Carrie will always be remembered by her daughter Sharon Norrison-Earl; granddaughter Melissa (Scott) Kinslow; great-grandchildren Hannah Kinslow, Kailey and Kyle Kinslow; brother-in-law Charles Pickering; many nieces and nephews; and a very special friend Wallace “Wally” Reynolds.

Carrie was predeceased by her husband Robert Norrison on July 4, 1981; son-in-law David Earl in 1988; sisters Margaret DeRue, Mildred Hironimus and Helen Pickering.

 Pelis, Delmar Henry
CANANDAIGUA — Age 86, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at his home after a long battle with cancer.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Russ Kimble of Victor/Canandaigua; granddaughter, Kimberly (Steven) Sandic of Farmington; great-granddaughter, Elana Sandic; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Aliene Habberfield and her family of Canandaigua. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Lee (Stubblebine) Pelis; and brother, Chester Pelis.

Mr. Pelis was born in Clifton Springs and was the son of Henry and Etta (Hoppel) Pelis. He attended Newark schools. Mr. Pelis was a Navy veteran of World War II and served aboard the USS Portsmouth in the Atlantic. After the war, he returned home to the family farm. He was a gifted craftsman and carpenter. On Sept. 15, 1950, he married the love of his life, Mary Lee, in Canandaigua. Mr. Pelis worked for the NYS Department of Transportation for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. At age 79, he went caribou hunting in Quebec, Canada with his nephew and great-nephew. Mr. Pelis was a member of the Canandaigua Moose Club. He was always there for his family and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Pelis also enjoyed dancing and country music, so “keep on dancing Dad”.

 Friends called Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 4-6 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc. at 47 N. Main St. in Canandaigua. His Memorial Service immediately followed calling hours at the funeral home. Quigley, Robert Eugene
PALMYRA — Died unexpectedly on Oct. 10, 2011 at age 45. 

Predeceased by his father Donald Eugene Quigley; stepbrother Scott Quigley. Survived by his mother Judith A. Quigley; son Brandon Scott Quigley; daughter Megan Quigley; stepson Damion Clarke; grandchildren, Breona, Kathalina, Brandon Quigley Jr. who entered this world only days before he left us; former wife Kamala Quigley; many other family and friends.

Updaw, Frank
ONTARIO — Passed away peacefully on Oct. 30, 2011.

Survived by his devoted wife, Roberta; son, Robert James (Ann) Updaw; daughter, Maryann (Dave) Straube; grandchildren, Dr. Robert James Updaw II, Karen Updaw Thorpe, Jennifer and Kyle Straube; and many nieces and nephews. Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Ward, Lee S.
PALMYRA — Formerly of Macedon, died Nov. 1, 2011 in his 73rd year.

He is survived by his wife Judith; seven children, Douglas (Janel) Ward, Denver Colo., Cindy (David) Bowman, Minneapolis, Minn., Christopher (Daun) Ward, Salina, Kan., Kathy (Phillip) Burris, Eatonville, Wash., David (Irene) Ward, Macedon, Elizabeth Garrow, Brooklyn Heights, Mich., Emily (Matt) Phillips, Farmington; 27 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Friends were invited for viewing at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Palmyra Ward, where his Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m., followed by his Interment at Macedon Center Cemetery. Warner, Carl D.
NEWARK — Carl David Warner, 79, entered eternity Monday, Oct. 31, 2011 at DeMay Living Center.

All services will be private. Burial will take place in Bath VA Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

The funeral home proudly flies the Navy flag in honor of his service to our country during the Korean War.

Mr. Warner was born the son of the late Carl and Margaret (Ressinger) Warner on May 23, 1932 in Sciotoville, Ohio. He retired from the U.S. Post Office, where he worked as a mail handler at the Jefferson Road office. Mr. Warner was a member of the Newark VFW Post No. 2883. With an engineering mind, he enjoyed taking things apart and repairing them. He was always thinking and designing new ways to make things. At the high rise in Newark, where Mr. Warner lived, he was known as the “Social Director” because he loved to get everyone involved with the activities.

Mr. Warner will be remembered by his sons David (Christine) Warner of Henrietta and Mark Warner of Newark; grandchildren  Robin Warner, Casey (Kenneth) Swanger, Melody, Alex, Joseph Warner and Darius Steighler; great grandson Jacob Swanger; brother Richard Warner of OR; sister Katherine (David) Young of Brighton; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Warner was predeceased by his children’s mother Jane Paddock; sisters Dorothy Clark and Ruth McKee.
