NEWARK — Leah P. Young, 109, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
There will be no prior calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Wayne County Nursing Home on Nye Road in Lyons. A memorial service will also be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, at East Palmyra Presbyterian Church in East Palmyra. Burial in East Palmyra Cemetery.

Leah was born in Rochester, Aug. 17, 1902, a daughter of William and Libbie Bassge Poyzer. Leah retired from Buck Fashions in Newark ,where she worked for many years and was a personal friend of Josephine Buck. Leah was the oldest living resident of Wayne County and had been a resident of the nursing home for 15 years. She was also the oldest member of the East Palmyra Presbyterian Church. She was an avid gardener.
Survived by two daughters, Ellen Rich of Marion and Jane MacPherson of Fairport, daughter-in-law, Bernice Young of Newark. Seven grandchildren; Rick (Donna) MacPherson, Pam (Chris) McWilton, Michael MacPherson, Scott (Jane) Young, David (Jolie) Young, Tim (Kim) Young, Martha (Robert Curtis) Rich. 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many loving friends and devoted care givers.
Predeceased by her husband, Vernon Young, in 1939 and her son Glenn in 2008.
Arrangements were made by Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home in Newark.

MACEDON — Died Sept. 15, 2011 at the age of 68.
Predeceased by her husband, Henry, and son, Steven. Survived by her stepchildren Michele (Scott) Coggins and Michael Caschetta; sisters Jacquelyn Hannan and Cheryl (John) Condello; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service were held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Payne & Murphy Funeral Home at 1040 Route 31 in Macedon.

Mrs. Chapman was born the daughter of the late Albert and Louise (Lockwood) Helbringer on Tuesday, April 28, 1925 in Buffalo. She had worked for the Telephone Company in Geneva for many years.

Allan was born the son of the late Samuel and Dorothy (Frist) Fillman on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1940 in Philadelphia. He loved the Christmas holidays and playing chess. Allan was known as an author publishing a book “Behold I Show You a Mystery” He had 10 years of formal Bible training and had also received a PhD in environmental engineering.
Allan will be remembered by his soulmate and wife of 13 years, June Welch-Fillman; sons Jimmy and Kenneth Fillman; four grandchildren; sister Judith (James) Brack of Georgia; nieces Linda William and Lori McClane; nephew James Brack; five great-nieces and nephews.

Mildred was born Tuesday, April 4, 1922 in Homer, N.Y. She retired from Garlock Co., in 1980 where she worked as a bookkeeper. In Florida she was a member of the VFW and a longtime volunteer at Bay Pines Hospital where she loved working with the patients. Mildred enjoyed camping with family and friends. She was also a past member of the Newark Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
Mildred will be remembered by her sons David and Ken Graf both of Newark; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Richard; sisters Louia, Josephine, Louise (Donald) and Betty; and many friends at Lowes Mobil Home Park in Florida.
Mildred was predeceased by her son Dale Graf.

MACEDON — Passed away Sept. 19, 2011 at the age of 86.
Predeceased by her husband Robert Reeve in 1980; several brothers and sisters. Survived by her son Ronald (Lorraine) Reeve of Marcellus; daughter Barbara (John) Krebbeks of Canandaigua; granddaughters, Jennifer Reeve (Scott Adelmann), Kelly Krebbeks, Amy Reeve (Eric Zimmerman), Megan Krebbeks; sister Hazel Gannon; several nieces and nephews.
Esther was a life-resident of Macedon, employed at Kordite, retired from Crosman Arms and worked part time at Spring Valley Greenhouses. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

PALMYRA — Passed away peacefully Sept. 25, 2011 at the age of 81.
Survived by his loving companion of 40 years, Helga; children, Petra (Steve), Shawn (Tammy); grandchildren, Daniel, Hannah, Joshua, Ryan; brothers-in-law, Horst (Pat) Merkl, Adam (Erica) Dorst; many relatives and friends. In 1994 Dan retired from New York State Department of Transportation after 25 years. His love and passion was the Palmyra Community Center Cardio Room, where he worked for the past 12 years.

Welch, Mary (Ryan)
ATTLEBORO, Mass./NEWARK — Passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at Life Care Center following an extended period of declining health at the age of 91.
Mary was the wife of the late William J. Welch, M.D. She was born in Taunton, Mass. on Aug. 28, 1920, the daughter of Daniel and Helen (McNamara) Ryan. Mary attended St Mary’s School in Taunton and graduated from St Mary’s High School in 1938. She used her skills and training as a legal secretary to help her husband before and after World War II to establish his Taunton medical practice. Mary and her family moved from Taunton in 1951, and after living in Connecticut and western Massachusetts for a number of years, settled in Newark, where she lived for 42 years until moving to North Attleborough, Mass. in 2002. After retirement she and her late husband wintered in Myrtle Beach, S.C., a place she enjoyed greatly.
Mary was vibrant and vivacious with an unforgettable, full-of-life smile. She was an active member of the Newark Wayne Community Hospital Women’s Auxiliary; a frequent Red Cross volunteer; and a member of St Michael’s parish in Newark where she also volunteered countless hours in support of St Michael’s School. She was always interested in current events and politics and enjoyed and excelled at managing her family finances.
Mary’s greatest source of joy was her family. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and was always a source of encouragement and support. Family members will especially remember her strong intellect, spirited sense of humor and masterful culinary specialties that made holiday gatherings in her home times of memorable good cheer and excitement.
Mary is survived by her daughter Valerie M. Welch, of North Attleborough, and her husband Robert Ovoian; three sons, William R. Welch, M.D. of Osterville, MA, and his wife Laurel; Frederick R. Welch, Lt. Col.,, USAF (Ret.) of Myrtle Beach and his wife Bonnie; and Kevin L. Welch, M.D. of Pensacola, Fla. and his wife Capri.
In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by her brother Daniel Ryan of Taunton, Mass., and her sister in law, Louise Ryan. She is survived by her sister Eleanor McDermott of Taunton and her husband Edmund; three brothers, Charles Ryan and his wife Mary Elizabeth (Beth) of Stoughton, Mass.; John Ryan of Wethersfield, Conn.; and Joseph Ryan and his wife Marie, of Vernon, Conn.; and her sister-in-law Ruth Walsh Ryan of Brookline, Mass.
Mary also leaves her granddaughters Michelle Crawford, Katherine Welch Ovoian, and Vanessa Welch; grandsons Matthew Welch and William Welch; great-grandchildren Jacob, Ashlyn, Luke, and Matthew; (all of whom will miss Grammie very much) and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends were invited to visiting hours on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home at 70 Washington St. in Taunton, Mass. A memorial celebration and service will take place in the funeral home immediately following visiting hours at 12 noon. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Joseph’s cemetery in Taunton.
