Dexter was born the son of the late Dexter and Mary (Kanode) Boyd on March 8, 1938 in Lindside, W. Va. He worked for Nabisco Corp. in Geneva where he worked in maintenance for many years and retired from there. Then he joined Hartman Fabrications in Waterloo for a few years. Dexter was a self taught auto mechanic and stock car racer. For many years, with his family, he would travel around to race tracks to drive his No. 77, a car he built himself. He restored a 1936 Chevy pick-up truck he has owned for 51 years and it will carry him to his finial resting place. Over the years he built his own home in Phelps and later his son’s home. Golf was a time for him to rest and relax from all his activities.
Dexter will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years Beatrice (Puff) Boyd; son Randy (Susan) Boyd of North Carolina; daughters Debbie (Mark) Schoonover of Pennsylvania and Connie (Lance) Winburn of Florida; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers Clarence (Elsie) Boyd and Ray (Carol) Boyd both of Newark; sisters Rosa Lee Boyd of Gates and Linda Rugenstein of Newark; many nieces and nephews.
Dexter was predeceased by his brothers Ivan and Ralph Boyd.

NEWARK — Went home to the open arms of her Savior on Nov. 23, 2011 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital at age 87.

Mrs. Cermak was born the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Padgett) Swartwood on March 19, 1924 in Oswego. She graduated from Newark High School and than attended Rochester Business School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark. For many years she owned and operated the Beauty Column Hair Salon out of her home on Church Street. Mrs. Cermak enjoyed camping, square dancing, knitting, sewing and spending time with her family. She had a special love for cats. For a time Mrs. Cermak sold real estate for Century 21.
Mrs. Cermak will be remembered by her loving husband of 65 years Joseph Cermak; son Bill (Myra) Cermak; daughter Maria Cermak both of North Carolina; five grandchildren Billy, Aubrey, Clarissa, Patrick and Taylor and two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lucille Merick and Nina Swartwood; many nieces and nephews including Tena (Keith) Pierce and Billy Joe (Nikki) Hyde.
Mrs. Cermak was predeceased by her sister Thelma Hyde; brothers Homer and Charles Swartwood.

Gardner, Stephen John
NEWARK —Passed away Sunday, Nov. 13 in Gunnison Valley Hospital after an 11-month battle with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of liver cancer.
Stephen was born Oct. 11, 1972 in Newark, and moved to Crested Butte in 1996. The son of Thomas Gardner and Audrey VanKoevering Gardner, he is proceeded in death by his mother, Audrey. He leaves behind his father Thomas, older brother Lance Gardner and his immediate family, Rachael Hassig Gardner and two sons Elias Blue, age 6, and Marinus Logan, age 5.
Steve obtained his bachelor’s degree in geology and chemistry at the University of Connecticut and SUNY Brockport. He later went on to earn his teaching degree in secondary science and mathematics at Western State College. He was the owner of Gardner Painting and a teacher at both Gunnison Middle School and Crested Butte Community School.
Steve loved to travel and was an avid snowboarder, windsurfer, road and mountain biker. Let it be said that Steve lived his life every day the way many would wish to live their last — on his terms. In his professional life, Steve excelled at coaching and teaching. His understanding and compassion for the various stages of youth was evident in his relationship with his sons and was his greatest personal achievement.
Steve’s ashes will be spread in private ceremonies at Blue Mesa Reservoir and the Finger Lakes. A celebration of his life will be held Dec. 3 at Merchants Grill located at 881 Merchants Road in Rochester starting at 3 p.m. Stories to share with his children as they grow older are being collected at blue_marin_gardner@yahoo.com. PALMYRA — Formerly of West Virginia died on Nov. 24, 2011 at age 82. Predeceased by his wife Francis; daughter Rita Ann Bricco; son Larry Albert Hollingsworth. Survived by his children, Roy D. (Michelle) Hollingsworth, Jr., Stephen Gregory Hollingsworth, Linda Sue Hollingsworth; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters. Former owner of Walworth Rod and Gun Club and member of Palmyra Moose Lodge. He moved from West Virgina in 1958 and lived in Palmyra for over 50 years.

Hujik, Sarah “Sally” (Aunkst)
PROVIDENCE, UTAH/FORMERLY OF LYONS — Passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 after a long illness.
Mrs. Hujik was born June 20, 1950 in Lyons. She was the daughter on Nina Aunkst and has resided in Mt. Pleasant, Utah for the past seven years. Sarah was employed in various hospital as a billing and admitting clerk. She is survived by a half-brother, Harry Lester (Robin) Thomas and half-sisters, Margaret “Midge” (David) Frank and Tena Marie Thomas, all of Wolcott; half-sister, Melody (Samuel) Aumick of Clyde. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Hujik, a stillborn daughter; mother, Nina Edith and stepfather, Robert Thomas Jr. And half sister, Nena Thomas of Alabama.

Mrs. Lindstrom was born the daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Peckham) Priebe Sr. on March 25, 1920 in Fulton. She graduated from Newark High School and retired from the Newark Developmental Center where she worked as a recreational therapist. After retiring she and her husband moved to Gastonia, N.C. She loved to travel with her husband all over the United States with their pop-up camper. They visited all the States except Hawaii and Alaska. Mrs. Lindstrom was a very caring person and always put everyone above herself.
Mrs. Lindstrom will be remembered by her four children JoHanna (Bernie) Bach, Pamela (Bill) McCall, Alfred (Dianne) B. Lindstrom Jr. and Eric (Denise) Lindstrom; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brothers Charles Priebe Jr., Richard Priebe, Paul (Dorothy) Priebe; sister Anna Dean; many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lindstrom was predeceased by her husband of 56 years Alfred B. Lindstrom Sr. in 1999; six brothers and sisters.

CLIFTON SPRINGS — Passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 at Clifton Springs Hospital at age 71.

Roger was born April 25, 1940 in Canandaigua, the son of the late Lester and Marian Morrow. While serving in the Army, Roger was stationed in Korea. For 45 years Roger owned and operated Morrow Building and Remodeling. He could fix anything. Roger had a passion for antique cars. He was a member of the Finger Lakes Chapter of the Buick Club of America and past member of the Wayne Drumlins. Roger was a loving husband, brother and uncle. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Roger is survived by his wife of 35 years, Maryanna of Clifton Springs; Siblings, Eddie (Sally) Morrow of Stanley, Nancy (Anson) Johnson of Palmyra, and Charles (Gail) Morrow of Clifton Springs; several nieces and nephews.; His best bud Lucy Lou Morrow.
