As we enter the final month before the Sept. 12 primary election, the Daily Messenger is putting the call out for endorsement letters and essays from candidates on the ballot in Ontario and Wayne counties.
Endorsement letters must be no longer than 150 words. Letters will be accepted until Wednesday, Sept. 6, and should explain why a particular candidate is most qualified. Personal or party attacks will not be permitted.
Candidates will be allowed to submit an essay of up to 500 words, along with a photo, detailing why voters should vote for them. No personal or party attacks against opponents will be allowed. Those essays will be accepted for print until Aug. 30.
No letters or essays will be accepted after their given deadlines. No exceptions. We reserve the right to edit for content and space.
Please send your letters to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail them to the Daily Messenger, Attn: Letters to the Editor 73 Buffalo St. Canandaigua, NY 14424. Again, all letters must arrive by Sept. 6 and all essays by Aug. 30
Those with questions or concerns may contact Sean McCrory, executive editor, at email@example.com or 585-337-4274.
