A Palmyra man was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after he was involved in two crashes within five minutes in Phelps, Ontario County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies said Lawrence J. Langdon, 52, of 4358 state Route 31, rear-ended a vehicle operated by Stephen R. Catlin, 51, of 1872 Bordwell Road, Penn Yan, at 4:15 p.m. on South Newark Street, at the intersection of state Route 96. Catlin’s vehicle then struck a vehicle in front of his operated by Peter Premyslovsky, 41, of 164 Canandaigua St., Palmyra.

Deputies said Langdon backed up his vehicle and struck a vehicle operated by Kimberly J. Muller, 28, of Port Gibson, before leaving the scene.

He was driving north at about 4:19 p.m. on state Route 88 at the intersection of Mary Street when he crossed the center line and struck a vehicle operated by Marlene A. Barber, 79, of 60 Mary St., Phelps, which was stopped facing south, awaiting to turn onto Mary Street. Barber’s vehicle was pushed backwards into a vehicle operated by Bo T. Lysell, 64, of 4535 Route 21, Atlanta.

Deputies said they believe Langdon was having medical issues at the time of the crash, and he was taken by Phelps Ambulance personnel to Clifton Springs Hospital for treatment.

No citations were issued, deputies said.
