State Sen. Mike Nozzolio, R-Fayette, met with local firefighters and emergency response workers who were invited to represent their communities during Gov. Andrew Cuomo's State of the State Address to lawmakers and others in a convention hall at the Empire State Plaza, according to a press release.
Cuomo's address called for a "new statewide network of local and regional emergency responders to improve statewide communications and help ensure that resources can be deployed effectively in emergency situations," according to the press release.
Calling the first responders "the best our local communities have to offer," Nozzolio said he was "very pleased to see Gov. Cuomo initiate discussion on how emergency management services throughout our state could be better coordinated," and added he looked "forward to working with him to ensure a positive impact on the lifesaving services these individuals provide in the Finger Lakes region."
