Eagles top Red Raiders, 69-48, which leads off our weekly recap of area sports

It’s a new season, but it’s still the Wayne Game.

And this time, it was the Eagles coming away with a victory over Palmyra-Macedon, 69-48, in boys basketball on Thursday night.

Last fall, Wayne beat Pal-Mac in the football regular season before Pal-Mac won the postseason matchup. But on Thursday, the Red Raiders had no answers for the Wayne offense.

Logan Blankenberg scored 21 points and Braeden Zenelovic added 13, while Logan Holgado scored 13.

For Pal-Mac, Brandon Hawkins and Damien Wright each scored 13.


Boys basketball

Clyde-Savannah 68, Buffalo East 67

Dru Carnevale scored 23 points and Derrick Chance added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in the non-league win.

Tre Kanaley scored 11 points and Jaret Murray had 11 points and six rebounds for C-S.

Girls basketball

Wayne 74, Canandaigua 59

Hannah Zenelovic scored 26 points for Wayne and Alana Kornaker scored 18.

Katie Stegall scored 18 for Canandaigua.

Palmyra-Macedon 37, Livonia 32

Abby Halsey scored 13 points and was named MVP of the Livonia Christmas Tournament.

Mackenzie Storto had seven points and Aldyn Savage had four points and eight rebounds for the Red Raiders.

Dansville 41, Newark 40

Ladonia Smith had 10 points and 17 rebounds for Newark.

Gananda 44, Batavia 31

Camryn Vogt had 14 points and 15 rebounds for Gananda.

Midlakes 75, Bath 49

Jon Salotti led Midlakes with 17 points while Bryce Burri scored 15 and Sean Tillman added 13.

Newark 74, CSAT 33

Nate Beard had 12 points, 5 steals and 4 assists for the Reds, and D’Andre Saunders had 12 points and eight rebounds.


Boys basketball

NE Douglass CP 72, Pal-Mac 56

Brandon Hawkins scored 17 points and Hunter VanDeVelde added 13 for the Red Raiders.

Red Jacket 47, Williamson 36

Edwin Wynn scored 13 points to lead Williamson.

Marion 65, Cato-Meridian 62

Rodney DeLyser scored 20 points and Chris Dobbie and Jake Fioco each scored 13 for Marion, which trailed by nine at the half.

North Rose-Wolcott 67, Waterloo 47

Tyler Norris had 35 points and eight rebounds, and Reece Morris scored 13 points for NR-W.

Girls basketball

Pal-Mac 49, Northstar 35

Abby Halsey scored 17 points and Aldyn Savage and Katie Smyth each scored six points for the Red Raiders.

Phoenix-III 52, Red Creek 46

Isabella Wilbur had 13 points and Emma Griffin scored 11 while Katie Smith grabbed 17 rebounds for Red Creek.
