Blue Devils are one of seven teams to participate in event sponsored by Camp Good Days.
The Victor High wrestling team is one of seven teams set to participate in Saturday’s Fifth Annual Takedown Cancer Duals.
The event, sponsored by Camp Good Days, begins at 9:30 a.m. and is being held at two locations to accommodate the largest field yet of the tournament’s history: Webster Thomas High and Fairport High.
Joining Victor in this year’s field are Fairport, Penfield, Webster Thomas, Churchville-Chili, Pittsford and Rush-Henrietta. Campers from Camp Good Days will be involved as honorary captains of the wrestling teams. The coaches met with players and coaches during practices earlier this week. They received singlets signed by the wrestlers.
On Saturday, the honorary coaches will be with the teams in the locker room before leading each team on to the mat. There also will be a ceremony before the duals and the honorary coaches will remain with the team on sideline during competition.
The honorary coaches and their teams are: Danny Bookhart, 13, Rochester (Penfield); Anders Swanson, 11, Stafford (Rush Henrietta); Aiden and Jeremiah Anderson, 12 and 10, Caledonia (Fairport); Camren Wright, 9, Rochester (Victor); Jacob Quinn, 8, Rochester (Churchville Chili); Evan Santiago, 10, Webster (Webster Thomas); Gary Burks, 12, Rochester (Pittsford).
