Red Raiders are 3-0 in lacrosse after Monday's big win, which kicks off our weekly recap of area sports

The Palmyra-Macedon girls lacrosse team had an idea this would be a successful season.

But this good? The Red Raiders rolled to a 16-4 win over Marcus Whitman on Monday. The win improves their record to 3-0 and they’ve outscored opponents 46-12.

On Monday, Emma Arnold had five goals and two assists and Andra Savage had four goals and four assists.

Anna Leva had two goals and six assists and Aldyn Savage added two goals and two assists for the Red Raiders, who also got seven saves from Sophia Leva.

For Whitman (1-2), Emily Thompson scored two goals and Abbie Alvord, Jordan Knapp and Cameron James each scored one goal. Liz Cooley made four saves.


Gananda 32, Clyde-Savannah 0

Bri Walker struck out 15 for Gananda (2-0) and hit two home runs to drive in five runs.

Nadine Coleman and Caitlin Donnelly each had three hits for Gananda.

Palmyra-Macedon 4, Naples 1

Max Delehanty of Pal-Mac defeated Seth Price of Naples 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, and Aaron Delehanty of Pal-Mac won by 6-1, 6-0 scores at second singles against Sonny Leta of Naples.

At third singles, Pal-Mac’s Luke Nau defeated Alex Baader of Naples, 6-0, 6-0.

Naples won its point at second doubles with Spencer Hunter and Nick Moore defeating Alexander Brychy and Ian Wissick, 6-2, 6-1. At first doubles, the Pal-Mac team of Jarrod Harwood and Jonah Stiner defeated Jack Brautigam and Bryze Hazlett of Naples, 6-1 6-1.

North Rose-Wolcott 3, Marion 1

NR-W got wins from Chase Fremouw at second singles and the doubles teams of Devon Crumb and Peter Mattice, and Quintin Norris and Phillip Ufholz also won.

Marion’s point came from Reese Holohan at first singles.

East Rochester 5, Lyons 0

Tyler Adler, Michael Bupp and Doug Connard each won at singles for ER (1-1).

Williamson 3, Sodus 2

Williamson clinched the match with a forfeit win at third singles for Westley Burlee. 

Sodus got singles wins from Macallister Boldt and Zachary Boldt.


Boys lacrosse

Brighton 11, Palmyra-Macedon 10

Brian Burger scored four goals and assisted on one for the Red Raiders.

James Blazey and Jake Gallina each scored two goals for Pal-Mac.


Girls lacrosse

Mynderse 10, Midlakes 7

Jordan Naeye scored four goals for Midlakes and Claire DeBoover, Jamie DeBoover and Claire Raes each scored one goal.

Madison Bowman made seven saves for the Screaming Eagles.

Catrina Peterson scored three goals for Mynderse and Sarah Shaffer had two goals and one assist.


Boys lacrosse

Palmyra-Macedon 8, Penn Yan 7

Brian Burger scored three goals and assisted on another for Pal-Mac, which beat Penn Yan for the first time in program history (12 games).

Jake Gallina had two goals and Nate Arnold, Joe Lyko and Kasey Gallina each scored one goal for the Red Raiders.

Jared Hurlbutt made eight saves in the win.


Lyons 15, Clyde-Savannah 5

Kayla Battle went 2-for-5 with an RBI and Zoe Swana and Michaela Shaffer both saw time at pitcher for the Lions.

JeAnna Paddock and Ashley Lawson each had two hits for C-S, which committed 21 errors.


Midlakes 2, Williamson 1

Ezra Maslyn struck out eight for Midlakes and Jordan Maher hit two singles.

Mike Deckert drove in the winning run with a single and Austin Avanzato hit an RBI-double for Midlakes.

For Williamson, Ryan VanderMortel hit a double and Ryan Price drove in a run with a single.



Waterloo 16, Palmyra-Macedon 1

Morgan Kapp struck out five and allowed two hits in four innings of work for Waterloo.

Lauren Jolly pitched the final inning. She also went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI while Kaitlin Derleth was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and one stolen base.

Midlakes 12, Wayne 6

The Screaming Eagles scored 10 runs in the third inning and were led offensively by Natalie Schinsing, who had three hits and two RBI. Paige Siganowich hit a triple and drove in three runs for Midlakes and Sam Reed pitched a complete game and struck out six.

Amanda Blakely went 2-for-4 and hit two runs to drive in five runs for Wayne.

Sodus 17, East Rochester 1 (5)

Brooke Fillmore struck out seven and went 3-for-4 with a triple for Sodus.

Myasia Musolino hit a double and triple and drove in four runs for Sodus.

For ER, Arianna Walker doubled and struck out four.

Marion 28, Red Creek 3

Maddison Moore went 3-for-3 with three RBI and scored five runs for Marion while Grace Lennox had three hits, three RBI and three runs scored.

Maggie Meyer went 2-for-3 for Red Creek.

Mynderse 23, Clyde-Savannah 3

Skylar LaClair and Andrea Shannon each had hits for C-S.

Hayley Case went 5-for-5 with a triple and had six RBI for Mynderse.


Midlakes 13, Wayne 1

Mike Deckert struck out 10 in six innings and also hit a double for Midlakes.

Devin Kelly went 3-for-4, including an inside-the-park home run, to drive in two runs and Austin Avanzato had a triple among his two hits for Midlakes. Devin Hicks hit a triple.

Palmyra-Macedon 9, Waterloo 5

Liam Doyle went 3-for-4 and scored two runs for Pal-Mac.

Nate Tuper got the pitching win with six strikeouts and three runs allowed. Also for Pal-Mac, Mitch Stopp had two hits and scored twice.

Sodus 5, East Rochester 2 (10)

Ryan DeBadts hit a two-run double in the 10th inning to lift Sodus.

Alex Savory struck out 15 and allowed no earned runs in 7-plus innings for Sodus, and Kam Davis had two hits.

For ER, Dimitri Geoggantonis went 2-for-5.
