Annual event for uncommitted boys lacrosse players will be at Calkins Road Middle School in Pittsford

Sweetlax Lacrosse announced its annual Summer Showcase for uncommitted boys lacrosse (2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021) players being held June 23 at Calkins Road Middle School in Pittsford.

The Sweetlax Showcase includes scrimmages and positional clinics along with college coaches for Q&A sessions designed to further assist players who are interested in playing at the next level. Last year’s event saw players from California, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Michigan, New York and Canada compete at the event.

“We have a full day scheduled,” said Sweetlax founder and director of recruiting Kevin Martin. “It is a unique format that allows each player on a team to be coached by college coaches from DI, DII and DIII schools while also receiving information on the recruiting process between games.”

The Sweetlax Showcase will be hosting the event for the fourth year at Calkins Road Middle School, using all four fields for more than 300 players. The event kicks off the Sweetlax Summer Invitational weekend that will host over 120 coaches from colleges and universities in the country.

“The three days is such a great way to showcase not only the lacrosse talent that the coaches come for but also all that the Rochester and Finger Lakes region has to offer,” said Chelsea Henderson, whose company, ML8 Events, manages the event. “We have many people attend from areas as far away as California or Florida. Families turn this tournament into a family vacation.”

Interested players can submit their application on the event webpage (highlight tapes are required for the application to be submitted to the Showcase Player Evaluator). The event is open to the general public to come and enjoy a great weekend of lacrosse with food vendors on site from Chef’s Catering, Effortlessly Healthy, Flash Freeze, Artisan Ice Cream and Lapresi’s Lemonade alongside a number of local and national sports vendors.
