Macedon —
A Macedon man, already in the the Wayne County Jail on charges stemming from a Feb. 5 incident that damaged cars in a parking lot, was arraigned on additional burglary and arson charges Sunday night, Feb. 19.
Brent M. Ashley, 31, of the 200 block of Country Circle, was charged with one count each of third-degree burglary and arson. The additional charges stem from a related Feb. 5 incident at the garage of a home in the unit block of Erie Street, in Macedon. Ashley was being held at the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $80,000 bail.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, all of the charges stem from alleged incidents involving Ashley's former girlfriend. According to police, they received a call Feb. 5 of a disturbance in which a man, later identified as Ashley, allegedly put the woman's car in neutral, allowing it to slam into another car while it was parked at the American Legion, located at 76 W. Main St., in Macedon.
Before authorities could respond to that call, however, they received a call of a garage on fire at a residence, later discovered to be that of the former girlfriend, police said. The Macedon Fire Company was able to quickly extinguish the blaze, the report said.
