Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and DeMay Living Center volunteers were recognized for contributions during 2011 at a dinner held April 18 at Elks Lodge No. 1249.

Approximately 100 Auxilians, volunteers and guests attended the dinner, which was prepared by Elks Club members.

Mary Palmer, president of the hospital auxiliary, expressed appreciation for the support of the hospital and living center's missions and goals.

Milestone hours of service awards were presented to Gerald Pellen, who served 14,000 hours; Evelyn Hayslette who served 9,000 hours; Beverly Williams, who served 5,000 hours; Walter Hedgepeth, who served 3,000 hours; Nancy Basche, who served 2,000 hours; Chloe Metzger, Kenneth Shufelt and Laura Wood, who served 1,000 hours; and Marge Bixby, Robin Celso, Debra Page, Kathy Semmler and Susan Snyder, who served 500 hours.

Omran Alsalahi, Gail DeFisher, Jean Franchi, Cathy Kallassy, Mackenzi LaRussa, Anne McCusker, Kim Messersmith, Paul Moore, Cathy Ormsbee, Debra Page, Linda Trout, Sarah Tuttle, Haley Vermeulen and Phyllis Wagner were also recognized for contributing 100 hours of service.
